OMAHA FASHION WEEK S/S 2025: OUTRÉ

    Omaha Fashion Week has come out of its winter hibernation and blossomed on the town with the 2025 Outre season. Designers from across the country have converged upon the city to display new apparel expressing their artistic vision, and placing the creativity of the Midwest and beyond on display for all. Night one opens up with collections from fashion students around the area and from UNL to give us a display of emerging designers and a glimpse into the future's top designers.

    Moving from Student Night, we are greeted by Thursday's Paradox show. This night was formed with the concept of taking self-contradictory styling that at first appears to be true. We see this in a variety of the designs shown: chaotic yet composed, bold yet subdued, tame yet wild. The Paradox designers stepped up to the challenge and showed us pieces that were comfortable juxtaposing tough concepts in a battle that left spectators dazzled. The talent of these craftsmen is truly on display when you consider the amount of thought that has to go into balancing complex fashion designs such as these. Thursday's designers left nothing on the table. 


 Friday night's Bizarre showcase kept the ball rolling with a scintillating display of powerful, vivid collections that thrust the crowd out of the dull, gray winter into a thrilling, bright spring. Designers such as Mauve Decade took playful concepts such as a sleepover and made them runway chic. The composition of their pieces invokes the playful nostalgia of childhood, while infusing techno futurism in the music and background setting. The combinations left even the most unique taste finders with their jaws on the floor thanks to the dazzling colors and splendid silhouettes. 

 

    Of course, the grand finale took place on Saturday. The Enigma showcase took both emerging and featured designers down the runway to conclude this season's showings. Here we saw veteran designers take the runway hostage with daring looks that provided both wonder and inspiration to viewers and to the next generation of designers. All in all OFW's OUTRÉ season showed us that fashion in Omaha is only growing stronger, and I look forward to seeing what we can compile for the 2025 F/W season.

Omaha Fashion Week 2024: Design Powerhouses Ramp-up the Runway

      Luxury. Glamour. Innovation. Audacity. Omaha Fashion Week 2024 was willing to share these attributes with us to the maximum during the Audacious Season. Designers from a litany of distinct and fascinating backgrounds converged at the Omaha Design Center for four nights of  expressive and evocative designs that will stay in our memory well past this event. This year consisted of four nights with the following themes: Student Night designers, Bold designers, Brazen designers and Brilliant designers. Each collection reflected the arduous labor and passion imbued within by its creator. Lower-light Self Portraits

    Inspired by cinematic style shots, I have curated the selection below to display a more simplistic setup for photography. Using store brand lamps, a phone flash, and a tripod, I found it was still possible to create a fun lighting situation that reminds me of a still from a movie. I find myself making photos much cooler in light temp, so with these low light shots I wanted to try and experiment with a warmer hue.
